Harvard University

Harvard University may be a private analysis university in Cambridge, Massachusetts (US), established 1636, whose history, influence and wealth have made it one of the world's most prestigious universities.

Established originally by the Massachusetts legislature and before long thenceforth named for philanthropist (its initial benefactor), Harvard is the United States' oldest institution of upper learning, and the Harvard Corporation (formally, the President and Fellows of Harvard College) is its first hired corporation. Although ne'er formally related to with any denomination, the early College primarily trained Congregationalist and Unitarian priesthood. Its curriculum and student body were bit by bit profane throughout the eighteenth century, and by the 19th century Harvard had emerged as the central cultural institution among Beantown elites. Following the American Civil War, President Charles W. Eliot's long tenure (1869–1909) transformed the faculty and related to skilled colleges into a contemporary analysis university; Harvard was a commencement member of the Association of yankee Universities in 1900. James Bryant Conant led the university through the nice Depression and war II and started to reform the course of study and liberalize admissions when the war. The undergraduate faculty became integrated when its 1977 merger with Radcliffe faculty.

The University is organized into eleven separate academic units—ten schools and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study—with fieldes throughout the Beantown metropolitan area:[16] its 209-acre (85 ha) main campus is focused on Harvard Yard in Cambridge, approximately three miles (5 km) northwest of Boston; the business college and athletics facilities, including Harvard arena, are set across the Charles watercourse within the Allston neighborhood of Beantown and also the medical, dental, and public health schools square measure in the Longwood Medical space. Harvard's $37.6 billion monetary endowment is the largest of any tutorial establishment.

Harvard is a large, highly residential analysis university. The nominal cost of attending is high, but the University's giant endowment permits it to supply generous assist packages. It operates several arts, cultural, and scientific museums, alongside the Harvard Library, which is the world's largest tutorial and personal library system, comprising 79 individual libraries with over eighteen million volumes.Harvard's alumni include eight U.S. presidents, several foreign heads of state, 62 living billionaires, 335 Rhodes Scholars, and 242 Marshall Scholars. To date, some 150 philanthropist laureates, 18 Fields Medalists and thirteen mathematician Award winners have been related to as students, faculty, or staff.

University of Chicago

Verifiable 1890 by oil top dog John D. Rockefeller and the American Baptist Education Society, the school has shaped into one of the pervasive examination establishments in America, with driving graduate exercises in budgetary matters, business, law and pharmaceutical. The school is reinforcement with 87 Nobel laureates. Prominent graduated class join past Goldman Sachs and MF Global CEO Jon Corzine, expert Carl Sagan, writer Kurt Vonnegut and Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. One of the school's most adulated conventions is a scrounger seek after in which understudy and work power social events spun around grounds gathering hasty things, each with various point qualities to be surveyed by a main gathering of judges toward the end. The University of Chicago battles in NCAA Division III entertainments and the school mascot is the Phoenix.

One of the school's most complimented traditions is a scrounger look for after in which understudy and staff social events included grounds gathering imprudent things, each with exceptional point qualities to be overviewed by a primary gathering of judges toward the end. The University of Chicago fights in NCAA Division III preoccupations and the school mascot is the Phoenix. If the main agents had met in a tent, this still would have been an incredible school.

The key staff amassed on Opening Day, 1892, were in actuality an amazing social affair: pulled in from universities all around all through the nation, they had been pulled into Chicago by the likelihood of a get-together of incomprehensible masters. As Charles O. Whitman, who left Clark University to head the science office at the new establishment, energetically put it, "The time has now come when we should see and satisfy the prerequisite for more basic trademark solidarity among related sciences. William Rainey Harper, the University's first president, imagined a school that was "'fresh out of the plastic new,' yet as strong as the old slopes"— a moved examination school, joining an English-style understudy school and a German-style graduate examination establishment. The University of Chicago satisfied Harper's fantasy, rapidly changing into a national pioneer in front line preparing and examination: a relationship of authorities unafraid quite far, offer thoughts, and ask troublesome solicitation.

Made in 1890 by the American Baptist Education Society and oil loan specialist John D. Rockefeller, the University's property was given by Marshall Field, holder of the eccentric Chicago retail establishment that drag his name. If the primary workforce had met in a tent, this still would have been a fantastic college,The vital staff amassed on Opening Day, 1892, were in all actuality an incredible pack: deceived from schools all around all through the country, they had been pulled in to Chicago by the thought about a gathering of phenomenal analysts.

Whitman, who left Clark University to head the science division at the new association, enthusiastically put it, The time has now come when we should see and fulfill the requirement for more foremost regular solidarity among related sciences.William Rainey Harper, the University's first president, envisioned a school that was 'just took the lace off new,' yet as solid as the old slants—a present investigation school, joining an English-style student school and a German-style graduate examination establishment. The University of Chicago fulfilled Harper's dream, quickly transforming into a national pioneer in cutting edge training and examination: an establishment of analysts unafraid as far as possible, offer considerations, and ask troublesome request.

University of California (Berkeley)

Right when UC Berkeley bio engineers say they are holding their heart in the palms of their hands, they are not talking about eager defenselessness. The "heart-on-a-chip" made at UC Berkeley houses human heart tissue got from adult youthful microorganisms. The system could one day swap animal models for pharmaceutical wellbeing screening. The "heart-on-a-chip" made at UC Berkeley houses human heart bandanna got from adult foundational microorganisms.

The structure could one day substitute animal models for pharmaceutical security screening. The investigation bunch drove by bioengineering instructor Kevin Healy is showing an arrangement of throbbing heart muscle cells housed in an inch-long silicone contraption that effectively models human heart tissue, and they have shown the suitability of this system as a prescription testing so as to screen gadget it with cardiovascular pharmaceuticals.

The endeavor is financed through the Tissue Chip for Drug Screening Initiative, an interagency joint exertion pushed by the National Institutes of Health to develop 3-D human tissue chips that model the structure and limit of human organs. The study makers saw a high frustration rate associated with the use of nonhuman animal models to suspect human reactions to new solutions. A lot of this is a direct result of key complexities in science between species, the pros cleared up. For instance, the molecule channels through which heart cells conduct electrical energies can change in both number and sort amidst individuals and unique animals.

Numerous cardiovascular solution concentrate on those channels, so these refinements consistently achieve inefficient and preposterous trials that don't give careful answers about the lethality of a pharmaceutical in individuals, said Healy. It takes about $5 billion in light of present circumstances to develop a prescription, and 60 percent of that figure starts from direct costs in the creative work stage. Using sufficiently illustrated model of a human organ could in a general sense cut the cost and time of setting up another drug available to be purchased to the general population. This element indicates human heart tissue, got from adult undifferentiated creatures, beforehand, then afterward presentation to isoproterenol, a medicine used to treat bradycardia and other heart issues.

The beat rate recognizably extended after 30 minutes of presentation to the prescription. The heart cells were gotten from human-prompted pluripotent undifferentiated living beings, the adult juvenile microorganisms that can be cajoled to wind up an extensive variety of sorts of tissue. The experts arranged their cardiovascular microphysiological system, or heart-on-a-chip, so that its 3-D structure would be equal to the geometry and separating of connective tissue fiber in a human heart. They incorporated the isolated human heart cells into the stacking region, a procedure that Healy contrasted with voyagers sheets a metro train at surge hour.

The structure's constrained geometry assistants conform the cells in various layers and in a single course. Microfluidic channels on either side of the cell zone serve as models for veins, imitating the exchange by scattering of supplements and drugs with human tissue. Later on, this setup could in like manner license pros to screen the ejection of metabolic waste things from the cells. This structure is not a clear cell society where tissue is being showered in a static shower of fluid, said study lead maker Anurag Mathur, a postdoctoral specialist in Healy's lab and a California Institute for Regenerative Medicine person.

Wesleyan University

Wesleyan University was built up in 1831 by Methodist pioneers and Middletown occupants. Rule began with 48 understudies of moving ages, the president, three teachers, and one aide; instructive expense was $36 each year.Today Wesleyan offers bearing in 40 workplaces and 44 imperative fields of study and respects the four year training in aesthetic sciences and graduate degrees. The master of expressions degree and the pro of thinking are as often as possible allowed in six fields of study.

Understudies might look over more than 900 courses each year and might be tallied upon to devise, with the staff, just about 900 individual excercises and lessons. The understudy body is included plus or minus 2,900 full-time understudies and 200 graduate understudies, and around 200 low support understudies in Graduate Liberal Studies. An advancing staff of more than 300 is joined each semester by a perceived assembling of going to experts and instructors. At any rate paying little heed to Wesleyan's improvement, today's understudy/educator extent stays at 9 to 1, and around 66% of all courses select under 20 students.Named for John Wesley, the creator of Methodism, Wesleyan is among the most prepared of the at first Methodist associations of cutting edge instruction in the United States.

The Methodist advancement was particularly basic for its starting highlight on social organization and preparing, and from its introduction, Wesleyan offered a liberal expressions program rather than philosophical get ready. Wesleyan's first president, Willbur Fisk, an obvious Methodist instructor, set out a proceeding with subject at his inaugural location in September 1831. President Fisk communicated that preparation fills two needs: the advantage of the individual taught and the advantage of the world.Wesleyan has been known for curricular progressions since its building up. Amid a period when conventional studies told the American school instructive module, emulating the European model, President Fisk hoped to put propelled lingos, composing, and trademark sciences on a proportional parity with the works of art. Right when Judd Hall, now home to the Psychology Department, was verifiable 1870, it was one of the primary American school structures expected to be conferred completely to exploratory study. Subsequent to the 1860s, Wesleyan's staff has based on one of a kind examination and circulation despite instructing.

The soonest Wesleyan understudies were all male, basically Methodist, and exclusively white. From 1872 to 1912, Wesleyan was a pioneer in the field of coeducation, yielding a set number of women to think about and secure degrees adjacent the male understudies. Coeducation succumbed to the heaviness of male graduated class, some of whom acknowledged that it diminished Wesleyan's staying in relationship with its insightful colleagues. In 1911, some of Wesleyan's graduated class served to build up the Connecticut College for Women in New London to fill the void left when Wesleyan close its approaches to women.Ties to the Methodist church, which were particularly strong in the most reliable years and from the 1870s to the 1890s, dissolved away in the twentieth century. Wesleyan got the opportunity to be totally free of the Methodist church in 1937.Under the activity of Victor L. Butterfield, who served as president from 1943 to 1967, interdisciplinary study succeeded.

The Center for Advanced Studies (now the Center for the Humanities) conveyed to grounds excellent specialists and open figures who worked about with both representatives and understudies. Graduate Liberal Studies, set up in 1953, is the most prepared task of its kind, and grants the master of expressions in liberal studies (MALS) and the master of judiciousness in liberal expressions (MPhil) degrees. In this same period, the student interdisciplinary tasks, the College of Letters, College of Social Studies, and the now-old College of Quantitative Studies, were started. Wesleyan's model project in world music, or ethnomusicology, moreover dates from this period. Doctoral ventures in the sciences and ethnomusicology were set up in the mid 1960s.

Acharya Nagarjuna University

HISTORY
The name, Nagarjuna University is quite significant in that the great Buddhist preceptor and Philosopher Acharya Nagarjuna founded a University on the banks of river Krishna some centuries ago and made it a great centre of learning, attracting a large number of teachers and students form distant parts of the world.  The University was established by Act 43 of 1976 of A.P. State Legislature and Governed by Act 4 of 1991 covering 6 Universities of the State. The present Acharya Nagarjuna University is not very far from the haloed spot, as it derives its moral and intellectual sustenance from Acharya Nagarjuna in which context the University has been renamed Acharya Nagarjuna University through the A.P. Universities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2004, promulgated by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
The aspirations of the southern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh to pursue Post-Graduate education nearer their homes resulted in the establishment of Acharya Nagarjuna University. In 1976, Andhra University started a Post-Graduate Centre in Nallapadu, Guntur Dt., Andhra Pradesh, as an Extension Center to cater to the needs of higher education of the people of this region. It is in the fitness of things that a University should grow from this Center to fulfill the desire of the people of this belt. Accordingly, Nagarjuna University came into being in August 1976.
INTRODUCTION
Acharya Nagarjuna University has completed three decades of its existence.  It was inaugurated on 11th September, 1976 by the former President of India, Sri Fakruddin Ali Ahmed.  There have been many problems, difficulties and teething problems in its onward march.  In the course of the last 30 years, the University has successfully overcome most of the initial problems and is moving forward with determination, enthusiasm and hope.
From the corridors of a local polytechnic college in Nallapadu to the imposing buildings in Nagarjuna nagar, the road was very long.  Sacrifice, service and commitment marked the growth of Acharya Nagarjuna University.
ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Acharya Nagarjuna University, an affiliating University established in 1976, started with only 10 post-graduate courses in the University College.  Since then, it has achieved tremendous progress through quantitative expansion and qualitative improvements on various academic fronts.  This has been possible by the efforts of its dedicated faculty, an efficient team of supporting staff and high quality student input.  The Acharya Nagarjuna University at present offers post-graduate education in 47 courses (39 on the University campus, 4 at University PG Campus at Nuzvid and 5 at University PG Campus at Ongole) besides Post-graduate courses in affiliated colleges.
DEVELOPMENT OF POST-GRADUATE CENTRES
The University has two post-graduate centers one at Nuzvid, Krishna District and the other at Ongole, Prakasam District.  For the Post-Graduate Centre at Nuzvid.
University has got over 450 affiliated colleges in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam Districts. Details of the colleges
Acharya Nagajuna University since then has grown into a large University with 39 Academic Departments, including several self-financed courses, which started operating since 1992. Its jurisdiction was extended to three districts now having over 450 affiliated colleges offering Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Engineering, Education, Law, Pharmacy and Oriental Languages courses. Now it has 39 Post-graduate teaching-cum-research courses on the campus, while 71 affiliated colleges offered P.G. courses.  The University runs two P.G. centers-one at Ongole (a fully self-financed center) and another at Nuzvid (aided).
The University has been continuously achieving progress during these 30 years, in terms of introducing new subjects in the University College.  For instance, two new P.G. courses, in Hindi, and Tourism & Travel management were introduced last year.  New courses were started from the academic year: B.P. Ed. and M.P. Ed in the department of Physical Education, while M.B.A. in Health Administration, M. Ed in the department of Education and M.Sc. in Medical Technology are jointly awarded by A.N.U. and N.T.R. University of Health Sciences.  Five year Integrated M.B.A., Programme in International Finance is started.  This University has also pioneered the introduction of self-financed courses in the country, which is in conformity with the thinking of the national education policy makers such as the University Grants Commission.  The University is making concerted efforts towards resource mobilization on different fronts.
The policy of the University is to encourage the University College and the affiliated colleges to introduce job-oriented courses at the Degree and Post-Graduate levels.  Academic autonomy was extended to four of the colleges as per the directions of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.  The University has ensured that, while there is a need for quantitative improvement with the increasing demand for higher education, from the community at large, the quality of education offered at various levels is also maintained at a high level.  The University has been striving to maintain high academic standards in consonance with quantitative increase in the number of students being enrolled every year.
Teaching and Research are the two eyes and twin goals of the faculty in the University College.  The research programmes carried out in the various Departments cover both fundamental and applied areas.  The academic Departments seek to find a reasonable and useful balance between the world of knowledge and its use and application in a more concrete and realizable form.  The research programmes and course content focus on these issues and attempt to find solutions, so that feedback obtained by such an interaction could be used to bridge the gap between learning and its utility value.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Departments in the Campus have been engaged in the task of studying the many socio-economic problems.  Besides general areas, the research projects also cover a study of the problems of women, the oppressed classes of the society (both social and economic) and the problems of governance.  The interaction between the funding agencies and their beneficiaries and the managerial problems in industries form other research pre-occupations of the University.  The need for providing legal advice to the needy is winning the attention of the researchers.
The Science Departments are engaged in carrying out work related to the growing scientific knowledge in solving the problems of society, like the study of pollution hazards and their prevention during development by isolating and characterizing the active principles from both floral and microbial sources; finding alternative energy sources, development of new varieties and hybrids in chilies, computer applications and software development augmenting and preserving fuel supplies and other bio-mass sources, defense research, exploring non-conventional energy sources,  aquaculture development, liquid crystals preparation and study of their physical properties,   microbiology and psychopathology,  etc., all of which have a bearing on the day-to-day problems of society.  Knowledge is thus not merely an end in itself but also a means to serve the society which funds the educational institutions and this practical side has not been ignored by the University.  Emphasis on research,  especially with a strong socio-economic bias has also made the University initiate schemes and projects of practical utility.

Spectrum of Activities
The University is sincerely attempting to emerge as one of the premier academic institutions in the country.  The observations of the Rationalization Committee that visited our University under the Chairmanship of Prof. Ananda Krishnan, recently have been very positive and they assured us a very fair deal for Kakatiya University.
On academic front, the impression of all academicians and intellectuals who visited our University on different assignments has been excellent and the number and quality of the seminars, symposia, workshops and refresher courses conducted by all the departments vouchsafe the same. We will further strengthen our academic programs, teaching learning process, attendance in the class rooms, facilities in the laboratories in future.
The Kakatiya University does not mean that the campus colleges and the colleges in Warangal, but all of its colleges in four districts of its jurisdiction. We shall focus our attention for the all-round development of all the colleges and the students of theses colleges are provided with the same amenities and academic environment.
The academic soundness of an educational institution is reflected in a well-equipped library. We have been over the years strengthening the library by purchasing textbooks, reference books and subscribing national and international journals in all disciplines. In 2004, we made e-journals available to our students, scholars and teachers. Further, we have initiated action to develop campus networking.  There are plans to extend the facility to all colleges in Warangal and we have already provided dial-up network facility to all colleges outside Warangal.   The University Library caters to the needs of 350 teachers, 650 research scholars and 1803 students with a collection of over 1.18 lakh books, 255 Indian and foreign journals, 25400 back volumes and 2000 theses/dissertations.  The library works for 12 hours from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.  Apart from this, the readers from Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal and Adilabad Districts also use KU Library as a reference library.
The Directorate of Students Welfare Centre (SWC) has undertaken student welfare activities aimed at developing overall personality of students. SWC could train some of our students to bag state and national awards.   The Directorate brings out a newsletter entitled ‘MAS’.
The Placement Cell is helping students in procuring several jobs in leading companies and organisations. It has organized industrial visits and campus interviews inviting well-known institutions of Insurance, IT, Banking, Communications, Women Service Societies, NGOs, Pharmaceutical Industry, Public sectors in Mining and Engineering, etc. ATM facility is provided by State Bank of Hyderabad, KU Branch for the benefit of all.
The Music Club, Science Club, Forum for Social Studies, Industry-Institution Interaction Cell,. Tribal Museum, Yoga Centre, etc., have paved way for the all-round development of the students. Very strong alumni associations have also been established for two constituent colleges with foreign branches.
The University has won All India Inter-University Gymnastic Championship continuously for three years, i.e., 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 achieving hat-trick. It is a historic achievement, not only for Kakatiya University but also, for all South Indian Universities, as till to date only Kakatiya University has won Team Championship for three consecutive years in entire South India since introduction of this event in All India Inter-University competitions. Our students have fared very well and bagged 11 gold medals, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals.
The NSS Cell, Kakatiya University has been rendering commendable job and also bringing awareness among the rural folk on Literacy, AIDS, Superstitions and Child Labour. The NSS, Kakatiya University spread its tentacles of social service in its jurisdiction. More than 33,000 students pursuing their studies in various educational institutions have enrolled themselves as volunteers in NSS. The awareness programmes organized by the NSS Volunteers has brought awareness about the Environment, Sanitation, Afforestation, General and Community health among the Rural folk of Northern Telangana districts.
The Kakatiya University  is located in the historical town of Warangal was the erstwhile seat of the Kakatiya rulers and is an important town in north Telengana Region.  The University has completed 29 years of its existence and is now marching towards academic excellence under the dynamic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. V Gopal Reddy.
The University also promotes individual and collective research by the faculty and the scholars. The students of the University have the distinction of becoming active part of the HR of the corporate world.  The University is committed to meet the augmented demand in the expansion of specialized courses form time to time, and is striving hard to provide appreciable scholastic activities to the increased number of students.
Since its establishment in 1976 several steps were taken for the overall development of the infrastructure facilities in order to cater to the requirements of faculty, staff, students and research scholars. The vast area of 650 acres of land is being used effectively and efficiently for the developmental activities from the available sources and funds from the UGC, State Government and other sources. The various departments on the campus are well accommodated in different buildings of their own with lawns.   They have well-ventilated classrooms with audio-video facilities, seminar halls, computer labs, and faculty rooms. The laboratories in the science departments are equipped with the state of the art equipment to facilitate advanced research.
The faculties of all the departments, with 248 teaching staff and 622 non-teaching staff, are committed to excellence in respective subjects. They have excelled in imparting quality education and also represented their respective departments in many National and International Seminars and brought laurels to the University for their excellent research.
In spite of its vast development academically, it has been the long cherished dream of the University to have a centralized AUDITORIUM of its own on the campus that could accommodate about 1200 persons.
‘Inter-University National Youth Festival’ sponsored by Association of Indian Universities was hosted successfully by the University in February 2003.
The departments of the University and other offices like, Placement Cell, Kakatiya Adhyayana Kendram, Students Welfare Center, Women’s Study Center and Minority Center are actively organizing regular Seminars, Symposia, Interactions and other Programs that are of Local, State and National level and a need for a centralized auditorium is strongly felt.
A well-planned auditorium has been designed and developed by the University Engineers. The estimations of the same are standing at Rs. 2.91 crores. As the university has a limited budget of its own that can hardly cater to the academic needs, we are approaching state and central governments through MLA and MPs for the construction of a full-pledged Auditorium on the University Campus
